This chapter focused on adaptive learning technologies, these are technologies that are allow teachers to teach students who may have special needs and in order to learn the technology helps adapt the lesson to their specific needs or learning style. This helps the teacher customize their lesson and objectives and can adapt better as the student progresses though the course. There are many technologies out there whether your student is a visual, kinesthetic, auditory type of learner, or any other type of learner. These technologies include Diigo, alternative keyboards, scan/read systems, and concept-mapping software, just to name a few. The problem I see with using adaptive learning technologies is now that students are being catered in the way they teach, they may not be on the same pace now and that could raise some difficulties for teachers. Another thing would be keeping students from getting too distracted from these technologies. For each level of Bloom's taxonomy I'd us...

The PLN Twitter assignment has been interesting so far. I like seeing what other education technology account post as well as seeing what my peers post. So far what I've learned from using twitter is that using a social network to gather information may not be a first choice for most people. Usually going on twitter to post for EME 2040 is something I forget or something I wouldn't do naturally, it probably isn't how professionals use it in the real world. I absolutely loved the web page assignment. I learned that creating a web page takes patience and creativity. While creating the website I tried to put myself in the place of a student or parent going through this website. I asked myself what information would they want to see. I liked the design aspect of the assignment and the creativity however I found myself frustrated at times trying to work with the website, sometimes the response time would be slow and frustrating. Here's the link to my site. http://tpc15b.wee...

The website I chose to look at was my old high school's website. On the website you can access School Year Academic Calendars, school news. class info, and summer assignment links. This page is a general one for both students and teachers, as well as anyone, who fro some reason, wants to look at the homepage. For any student trying to look at their individual classes and grades, they need to login to edline. The link to the website is http://www.edline.net/pages/A_W_Dreyfoos_school_of_Arts As someone who wants to teach high school students I can really see myself using the portfolio assessment software, especially for grades. But it can also help keep track of all the students work and their progress, as well as serve as a convenient format for easy management. When I went to the sandbox I was immediately drawn to the virtual reality set. VR is very useful in th classroom especially for visual learners. Yea  can see objects in 3 dimensions and use VR for other geometric stud...

A Web 2.0 tool I find useful is Youtube. They are a lot of helpful resources on Youtube that can be helpful when it comes to students understanding content. For example, crash course by John and Hank Green are useful videos to help students understand key concepts. The podcast mentioned Twitter to be a useful tool in the K-12 classroom, however I don't find twitter to be that useful because I feel like a Twitter account is more useful when you're trying to network outside of school, or in college. I believe scribd is a useful tool because it allows to students to read, whether print or podcasts, for a relatively cheap price, multiple books and resources that can be beneficial to their learning. Here's the link: https://www.scribd.com/ Student's can only have access to a certain number of books and audio books a month, so they'd feel more obligated to read since they chose what to read. I know that my high school got a 3D printer while I was their and it was very ...

I found that the use of twitter has been very helpful in having discussions with the educational technology community. I'm getting the hang of checking on it and I've following more ed tech accounts each time I go on. The hashtag is super helpful in finding other accounts and relevant tweets. The digital divide is a very unfortunate thing for a lot of people especially growing kids who seek a better education. Students all over America don't have access to computers, the Internet and its resources. The digital divide is caused by a lack of ability to have internet access in a household, students that are affected by this are at a huge disadvantage. As a teacher I will make sure all of my students have access to a computer at school if they are not able to at home, if I am unable to provide that for them, then I will have to be conscious about the disadvantage those students have over other students. I will gear lessons towards that sensitivity. As an aspiring high school US...
